re: Your thoughts on the War on Drugs

War on Drugs does get a bit too much love on here but they are very good. It's a bit striking because I would put them slightly behind St. Vincent yet you never hear a peep about her on here and she's at least as lauded by the music community at large.

liking one more than the other is fine. They are both great. I just think it's odd that one is lauded on here and the other is rarely if ever even mentioned.

Courtney Barnett is good but IMO not as good as War on Drugs. She did have a kick arse SX

lost in a dream is an amazing album. I really love it.

I doubt it has the staying power of other albums from 2014 - TOVTR - Seeds will probably be in my rotation for years.

But its a great album. the songs are really well done.

I dont still spin it as regularly as TVotR, sturgill Simpson, and a few others. But its one that when im in the mood I enjoy beginning to end immensely. And i dont see that changing

But some people on here put parquet courts and future islands in this conversation, which reinforces to me how subjective this shite is I can tell almost immediately albums i like ok but wont give a frick about in a year. those album get no votes from me in AOY talks on here

i would put future islands in the same category as war on drugs. I like the war on drugs album better but neither to me will be a classic. But only time will tell. I sure didn't think 18 years ago I would still be spinning perfect from now on but I do.

I see the parquet courts differently. I know they will remain a part of my rotation for the next few years. That album is solid, and blends really nice with the rest of my library.

I say the exact same thing about TWOD; it's like his spirit animal is Tom Petty and it really is "fantastic driving music." While I enjoy the album as a whole, when I want to just listen to a couple of songs or don't have time to listen to the entire album it's just harder for me to get into it.

You and I diverge on indie folk stuff, but I agree here. I like War on Drugs, Vile and the National, but all fade out of my rotation quickly because I get bored with it.
