Foo Foghters were great!

Galactic! Killed it as usual! Corey Henry sang Cult of Personality and killed it!

Zac Brown- played beastie boys song before the band took the stage and after they left in honor of MCA's death. They also closed the show with Rage Against the Machines "Killing in the name of". They also had Amos Lee come out and sing a song with them.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals rocked! She also honored MCA as she shouted "No sleep till Brooklyn"

Mia Boarders was fantastic

Tom Petty sounded great

The Boss - well he's the Boss

Flow Tribe- very nice set!

Jazz Fest 2012 - was great!

Biggest surprise and second favorite set was the "Guitar Masters" on the small Lagniappe stage the second Saturday. Below is a review of these four guys--These guys were simply phenomenal, and maybe the four best guitarists I've ever seen on one stage at one time.

These guys are fricking awesome. DeGruy, Robinson and Clements have been playing together as Twangorama for years. see twangorama here

They rock the funk out. DeGruy's guitarp is custom - it's a 7 string guitar with 12 harp strings built in. DeGruy and Clements also play together regularly around town.

Warren Haynes, who shared the stage with Dr. John, Ivan Neville and a contingent of New Orleans horn players to close out his Saturday set. Haynes' serpentine slide guitar pierced the Crescent City-style wall of sound on "Walk on Gilded Splinters," "Such a Night," and "Big Chief," before the blended band finishing with a lovely, restrained version of "The Weight," doubtlessly dedicated to the late Levon Helm.

I would have to say this was my favorite set to see this year. I was lucky enough to get out there 5 days and see around 26 acts. But to hear "The Weight" at the end, when originally that time slot was for Levon Helm, was both powerful and emotional.

Better Than Ezra played this in their set too, by the way.

I like BTE but this year wasn't one of their best shows IMO

Only got to go the first Friday, but the Revivalists and Eric Lindell rocked the shite. Bon Iver was good, but he's not really the best festival music. The people behind me literally fell asleep.

See, that's the thing. Don't wait for one big name that you KNOW to go to Fest..it's more fun to go, roam around, see folks you never heard of or would not have gone solely for, experience the food, atmosphere, etc.

THAT'S the way to do Fest--NOT treat it the same as a concert.
