Is to listen to the video version with the movie excerpts?
I say yay. It has always made that song 100 times better and more impactful.

I mean the video is excellent for sure but 100 times better? That’s gonna have to be a “No” from me bro.
Metallica’s first video after years of resisting the concept. I’d say they absolutely nailed it.

If the video makes the song better then you're not listening loud enough.

As great as the song and video are, my latest obsession is watching black dudes react to the One music video on YouTube for the first time

This times 10. I am now obsessed with YouTube reaction videos of black people seeing & hearing metal & rock songs for the first time. Lost in Vegas & King KTF are the best but there are a ton of good ones to follow. If you really want to be entertained watch black women react to Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. They are blown away that it’s a white guy.

As much as I love metallica, I'll take a hard pass on one.

I agree.
But, Cornell's cover/mashup of One (with the music to U2's One) is even better.

I still like the S&M version of One best. Orchestra and the very dry guitar tone gives me the feels on the intro.

On-air personnel at MTV were said to find the "One" video a tough act to follow. It was difficult to segue from something so bleak. "On a lighter note..."
I was barely a teenager when the video was released and it very much contributed to the mighty Metallica mythology. There was nothing as dark or as heavy on MTV as this, not even close.

The first S&M version with some good headphones makes me wanna run through a brick wall I love it.
I can only imagine having been there live to experience that power.

Disagree. Better without the movie clips

Seeing it live with all the pyro and explosions is definitely the best way to experience it. Not the S&M version, just at a regular show.

I keep both versions on my phone. Have done so since the early 00s.

Live in concert with the pyro and strobe lights!
