What are some songs that sound so much like someone else that you either thought somebody else performed it or should have performed it?
My picks -
All the Young Dudes by Mott The Hoople. For years I thought this song was performed by David Bowie. I guess it sounds so much like him because he wrote it for them.
Bad Day - so I knew this Daniel Powter song was not Elton John, but it sounds so much like it should have been an Elton John song.

I thought Rush played "I Like To Rock" but they actually played that Diane Sawyer song.

Wow, I had to look up that first song (now that I hear it, I do remember it), and I found that the videos for those two songs were recorded at the same (now-abandoned) studio. But other than that, I don't get it, it doesn't sound like Rush.

When Plush first came out, I, and I think a lot of other people thought it was Pearl Jam.

I used to think "House of the Rising Sun" was a Rolling Stones song. I was genuinely surprised when I learned it was actually by The Animals.

Long Cool Woman - the Hollies. For the longest I just assumed it was CCR.

Animals covered it as well.

So Alive by Love and Rockets. First time I heard it, I thought JAMC had gone 'club sound'.

You just about need a chart to get all the 80s glam/hair metal songs matched up correctly.

Add me to the list that thought "Stuck in the Middle With You" was Dylan and not a Scottish rock band named Stealers Wheel.

That did sound like it had to have been inspired by Bruce's style.
