Late 90s - early 2000s was awful. Boy bands, pop punk, nu metal was all shite.

smoothed out slappy hours, kerplunk, and even dookie were great albums for that genre.
Hell, American Idiot was a damn good album...overplayed and became commercialized as hell... but it was executed far beyond any of those other shitty bands could ever dream of.

indeed. suicide machines had a few i liked. i was always more of a real big fish and the mighty mighty bosstones fan. gotta love blink, old green day, millencolin. of course rancid and nofx are on a whole other level of awesomeness imo. good char..and them others can suck it

Debatable. Music is very nostalgic after the decade has passed. I grew up in the 90s and you will never convince me that alternative/grunge was terrible. Finding people who can sing isn't difficult. It's the singer/songwriters that I want.
Bob Dylan wouldn't make it past the first round of a singing competition.....but man the guy could write.
