Will West Coast rap ever be relevant again?

When I was a lad it seemed like West Coast "gangsta" rap ruled the world. Odds of a viable scene ever taking off today?

I actually think it is making a strong comeback as of late.
Kendrick Lamar and YG rep the west pretty hard, but don't have the same sound as old west coast.
"California" by Colonel Loud and the new TI track "Dope" are recent songs that have the classic Dre sound.

It will never be the same because you can't discover something twice. The discovery of West coast rap happened, and it can never happen again.

I agree. I'm aware that there are still West Coast rappers that are influential, like Kendrick, but Southern rap made WC an afterthought in the late 90s.

You asked if it would be relevant again, not if it would be the same as the early 90s. It is very relevant today.
If you live in the south, you hear southern rap on the radio all the time. In the 90s, there was no southern rap so the only thing you heard was the west coast scene, sprinkled with NY.
Now, you here southern rap on radio all the time down here, but in California it is still heavily west coast rappers.

im 34 and basically grew up on 90s rap, east coast, west coast and outkast.... I've completely lost interest over the last 10-13 years as i hate almost everything that comes out now.

I've lived on the west coast for almost my entire life and do now. I didn't do a great job expressing what I meant in my OP. I should have asked if it will ever have the dominance it had in the early 90's.

Living in California in the 90s, my recollection of southern rap was outkast and I think goodie mob, then u had the master p crew come to prominence second part of the decade. The cash money guys came to prominence here around 1999.

I was in high school in California in the 90s and the first (non-Miami) southern rap I remember was Soul Food. The first Louisiana stuff I remember is the Down South Hustlers compilation.
