Today's RHOF is as shitty if not worse than the Hollywood shite. It's only a matter of time before we have a rapper s Walk of Fame. America is in big trouble.

It was lines like this that made him great.
And the two guitars with he and Maury were sublime.
You could make an arguement his death was the greatest loss of potential future hits of any artist, save Buddy Holly or Skynyrd.

True. He had just got going.
How long was he relevant nationally? 3 years?

I always liked Jim Croce because dad was a fan. Once i heard "roller derby queen" he became a favorite. Had me laughing my arse off.

The was a Jim Croce thread on here a month or two ago. It had a link to a VH1 Behind The Music episode on YouTube. Very informative.
Apparently Croce had a really horrible record deal and was getting screwed by his label. He was getting paid almost nothing, even though his songs were getting airtime. He quit for a like a year in protest.
When he started playing again he was touring hard and playing bigger venues. The concert at NSU was a make-up date from a show he cancelled a year or so earlier when ill. At the time, he swore he'd honor the contract and come back to play for them.
I think they said he was paid $750 for the show.

Seemed to me that he was ready to be done by the time he died. Think the business side wasn't worth it to him.

IIRC, he was leaving Natchitoches for a concert at Nicholls State in Thibodaux when his plane crashed. I was among the many Nicholls students shocked by the news of his death!

I think he was leaving for a show at Austin College in Sherman, TX. That is what I read.
