Why did none of you tell me that Duncan Sheik died?

If I wasn't listening to pop radio at the time of that one hit, why should I have heard of him?
I do wish I'd seen him in concert though, He could have played a medley of his hit.

That song almost defines the alt rock genre of the 90’s.
Story goes he wrote the song for other people to record but they didn’t do it how he intended. Finally he said I’ll do it and recorded it himself.
Beautiful song, the bridge at the end is timeless with those haunting piano notes.

One of my favorite pop rock songs of the 90s

I always consider "Barely Breathing" as one of the best songs of the decade.
"Laid" by James is another. I keep going back and forth with those 2 (and others) about what song IS the best of the 90s.
Oh, and for the smart asses, he was way more well known for his work on Broadway and some movie soundtracks (if I'm not mistaken) than his "measly" one hit.

That album-a continuation of the singer/songwriter era-was one of the best of the genre of the 90's-melodic-incredible songwriting, really from the heart-beautiful and charming-very tender and vulnerable even-my daughters and I spent 100 days listening to Duncan.
RIP.
