Waters last album was very well received.
Division Bell was utter bollocks.
Gilmour is happy in semi-retirement, and has none of the desire for the big productions and drama that would working with Roger would involve. It was interesting did see him on his wife's podcast the other day talking in depth about Sid.
I do wish they could bury the hatchet, at least enough to be cordial. Waters mentioned a few months back about not being able to get in the same page with the other 2 about a Animals reissue. For the must part its seemed like he's been conciliatory but that's only one side.

Any body know exactly what Waters had been posting on their page that caused latest dust up?

I believe he's upset because David blocked him from using the Pink Floyd social media accounts and wouldn't let him promote his concert film on them, all the while promoting his wife Polly's book on the Pink Floyd site.

He signed a court order giving the other's sole use of the name Pink Floyd.
Wouldn't this be like a programmer going back to his old job and not only wanting access to any old code he wrote, but also wanting to use their (physical and social) network to advertise his new venture. That's turn a lot of heads.

Roger wrote damn near all the great Pink Floyd songs. A lot of people seem to miss this critical fact. And personally, I think his solo work has been superior to anything David has done after Roger left the band.
Roger wrote a lot of the songs, but they were performed by a pretty good group of guys that made magic with his songs. IMHO Rogers solo stuff sucks a$$…..why? no magic musicians.
David- maybe the most soulful guitarist/singer ever.
Rick- wonderful tasty keyboardist
Mason- the only member on everything PF has ever done.
Roger- well, he plays bass with a pick.

Why can't David and Roger settle things and get back to making music?
Because Roger Waters is a self righteous arse clown that sniffs his own farts, he is a lyrical genius but a complete jackass, and David Gilmour is one of the greatest musicians to ever walk the planet. He’s my favorite guitarist of all time and it’s not even close. His self titled solo album also blows away anything Waters has ever done solo.
Waters was the cold brain behind Pink Floyd. Gilmour was the warm heart and soul.

Are we talking about bands that share writer credits on songs?
I didn't word that very well. What i mean is on earlier albums it was more collaborative with multiple songs where all 4 have writing credits to Animals and the The Wall are almost all Waters, Gilmour is credited on Dogs and a couple of songs on the Wall, (they have publicly disagreed over Comfortably Numb which Waters claimed as all his but Gilmour says they worked on during Animals) to the Final Cut which is "performed by" Pink Floyd.
In Waters defense, some of that may have been the others getting lazy, not doing their share. He ultimately fired Wright over that, Gilmour has said he was somewhat lazy and felt pressured by Waters.
In other words it seems like he was trying to take more and more control, where as other bands were always set up that way.

But there are many instances where when a band breaks up (either because a member dies, one leaves, or they mutually break up) they decide not to use the name anymore. And if the most creative member of the band is not in it anymore, then I can understand him being pissed they were still using the name
There are also many bands that continue to tour with few or just one or even no original members. Ultimately the band is a business and the name has/had commercial value. Waters left, he had no right to dissolve the band on his own since it was a legal entity of which he was but 1 member. However even he has now said he was wrong to sue them over continuing the band. In fact, if he was frustrated that the others weren't contributing enough him leaving was probably the best solution. He could do all his stuff and shouldn't have cared what they did as long as he got any royalties he was entitled to.

frick him for that. Waters is such a piece of shite. Wright's keyboard work is as integral to Pink Floyd as Waters's lyrics and Gilmour's guitar.
Waters is the prototypical example of the band mate whose ego swallows him up after fame and he starts believing he's bigger and more important than the rest of the band. Toxic belief system that's destroyed a great many bands over time.

Wright got the last laugh though. He was hired as session player for the original Wall tour which lost money. So he got paid while Mason, Gilmour and Waters took a bath

I can't think of one song after 1979's The Wall that was good, memorable, or even decent. Even the songs with Eric Clapton"s great guitar work on Pros and Cons were very mediocre. I think the songs dried up and he blamed the other members. Hence the bitter asshat that he has become.

are you talking Pink Floyd songs or Roger Waters? When the Tigers Broke Free was originally used in the movie the Wall and was later included on the Final Cut is one of my favorite PF songs.

Agree 100%, I'm in the Gilmour camp. I was referring to Rog material after the wall...……..

The Final Cut had:
The Gunner's Dream
Not Now John
Two Suns in the Sunset
...which are quality songs, IMHO, and The Gunner's Dream, particularly is probably my favorite Floyd song not in the run of the "Big 4 (DSOTM, WYWH, Animals, The Wall)"
And it works as an album, probably better than the more disjointed The Wall (although the highs of the double album are pretty significant, not nearly as consistent as the previous 3 albums or The Final Cut, again, IMHO).

Time is running out.
And I think that is why David has no interest in rejoining with Roger other than the odd charity gig. My guess is David has said all he needs to with PF. And because he knows he won't live forever, why rejoin with Roger and spend any of the time he has left with all the angst that goes with it?

We all have to live with the decisions we make and this is on him. Not on David or Nick. It is his alone to live up to. He needs to just leave it alone, he tainted his career with his ego and his "over the top" political views and constant bull shite is making it worse. He never learned anything from the mistakes he made

Its not David. It is Roger. He is a little bitch. His little crying video this week makes him look more like a bitch. And this from one of the biggest Pink Floyd fans ever.
David has moved on. Wants nothing to do with Roger and has not for a long time. Those wounds are deep and are not going to heal. Roger is no longer a active member of Pink Floyd and has not since he quit on them and treated the other members like trash.

Im glad Gilmour has moved on and has nothing to do with him. Roger trying to talk shite on Polly is not a good way to get back in the group either.
Can't disagree with any of that, and really at this point, Roger's voice is shite anyway, so if anyone missed PF in their 70's prime, then forget it- not going to happen! At least they have some old stuff on video to see...

A momentary lapse of reason is a very cool album.
