Work on your own songs/sound? Learn covers, work on scales?

Edit to clarify: I'm not asking for advice, I'm gonna do whatever I do. Just asking about what other folks do.

Played our first set since February last night. Had the realization we need to shake up our set as we have been playing a mix of the same 50ish songs for the past year and a half or so.

What kind of stuff, in general have yall been doing?
There's some really good early 60s stuff you can add easy.

I always learn a song that I can play solo, or I dig into a particular player or sound. I spent a whole day on Robert Cray the other day. Often, I restring an old guitar, or pull out one I haven't played in a while. It's kinda like seeing an old friend. Sometime I work on my rig and the pedal board, or finding some odd things on one of my old processors... But it's always a good day.

I always just end up working on my own songs until I get frustrated because I struggle to come up with riffs and chords to match words already written (my songwriting works best the other way around). Then, I try to pivot to learning covers but get frustrated and impatient, so then I play scales until I get bored and go back to working on my own songs to repeat the cycle. Each cycle takes roughly 10 minutes

That's funny man, I'm like that, but I'll start playing Batman , or Ben Gunn's Theme, then try to transpose it, or steal it in a different key

The main star wars theme or the imperial march is always fun on guitar.

No time to play today, busy boxing up Tele-sized P-90s to ship to some guy in Alabama. ??

Another TDer got his first set of Carondelet bass pickups this week. Let's see if he shares with us how well his Carondelet P/Silent J duet are treating him.

Farming is hard work, but when you get laid by, you can go pitch horseshoes at the gin office. They moved it to China though.

My luggage is always searched.

I'm noseblind to the shite, not long back.. my girlfriend..who doesn't smoke at all, I dropped her off at the airport to make her grandmother's funeral back in Philadelphia. I make it into my driveway, about to turn the car off and she's calls me saying that she missed her flight because they searched her bags in detal believing she must be carrying weed, all from my 2nd hand un-burnt smell.

So..I do suffer in strange ways.
