Neil Young
No vocalist would ever give him credit for having a "great voice" but I can't think of many artists whose lyrics suited their music as well as Uncle Neil. Non-Neil fans immediately wonder why the frick he's on vocals which, to me, makes him extremely underrated.

David Draiman of Disturbed
Dude gets made fun of constantly for his ooo wahhh ahh ahh from Down with the Sickness, is the lead singer of a band pretty made fun of in the music community, and just up and gets nominated for a Grammy out of nowhere in his 40s for covering Sound of Silence. There’s a ton of vocal coach reacts videos to this video too, maybe the most popular one I’ve seen on YouTube with voice coaches reacting to a rock singer.
