I have drum kit in my home office and guitars set up in the spare bedroom. Far from good on either, but have played around with both instruments off and on since middle school. It's what I turn to when I need to blow off steam after conference calls, etc..

i picked up a bass for the first time about 48 years ago, and i was just telling the wife i’ve only recently reached the point where i dont feel like an imposter when i tell people “i’m a musician”

Im similar. Started playing when i was 16, but it just took a long time to make progress. Didn’t play much for about 20 years and just decided about 10 years ago I was going to go back to it heavy, get good and join a band. Got in a regular band about 5 years ago and we play 2-3 gigs a month.

Everything just comes so easy now. I pick up new songs really fast and can play a gig without really having to think hard about what I’m doing. Getting to this point helped me get over the imposter syndrome. When you can just watch an Auburn game on the iPad while playing a gig and not miss a beat, you’re there.

I'm a good guitarist but I'm better at fixing them, building them and winding pickups for them.

You left out the part about being a kind of goofball in a cool way

had a gig last November with the AU-TAMU game playing on a big TV right above my head

could tell how the game was going by watching my wife and kid reacting to the screen while we were playing

Forever open chord, 1st position, twenty year guitar hack.

And then something happened with a mirror and stairs and guitar became my hand therapy. Then recently (this) . . .

Bass. Mostly old classic rock, some gospel, and 90s southern rock.

Not great at it but I play some virtually every day.
