Jim Reeves was the best male voice for the 60s Nashville sound. Don Williams should be getting more replies as his smooth and warm baritone voice makes any person feel better.

As for as modern country, Josh Turner had the best male voice for a short period. But he has disappeared. I guess Nashville didn't care as he wasn't pop sounding enough.

Jones, Strait, Waylon and Whitley all have recognizable purely country sounds with different strengths.
