I think your post shows why it is for "rock" bands. It was way harder to Rush, KISS, and Deep Purple to get in than those bands you named. That, I think, gets them to Level 1.

If you want to give them level 1.5, I would be cool with that as well.

I think Cinderella is above those other in tier 3. Just my opinion

I would include Def Leppard in Tier 1 with Motley Crue, Etc.

Tier 2 would be Cinderella, Ratt, etc.

Tier 3 Firehouse, Trixter, Europe, Kingdom Come, Winger, etc...

JMHO!

This is one of the worst threads I have seen on the rant and that is saying something.

Deep Purple is one of the most underrated bands ever. To consider them Tier 3 is idiotic. And Iron Maiden as a Tier 2 is pure ignorance.

What they were in their heyday is open for debate, but most classic rock acts nowadays have been reduced to "C" grade IMO, since the lineups they trot on the road probably have more ringers than actual key bandmembers...

Came here to post Foghat, looks like they're the runaway winner.

Wings has to be in there. Status Quo maybe.

KISS is clearly tier 3 as a band, but they are top of the heap as a marketing machine.

Disagree on Cinderella and Ratt. They have to be tier 2. They sold shitloads of albums and had steady play on MTV for years. I've heard Eddie Trunk make the case that Ratt did as well as Motley in sales and hits.

Warrant is right there with Foghat as a poster child for Tier 3.

Tier 1 Classic Rock bands would have to bands like the Stones, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Grateful Dead

Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motley would be Tier 2

Deep Purple definetly a third tier band.

I wouldn't consider any of these bands classic rock. Is hair metal considered classic because its still played on classic rock radio? Maiden and Priest don't get played on those stations.
