I'm not sure if he'd be considered "popular" but Patterson Hood has one of the worst voices I've ever heard. And I still willingly listen to DBT and his solo stuff

I love New Order, but Bernard Sumner's voice is thin and often pitchy.

I never liked hearing John Fogerty..... yup you heard me.

I heard the isolated vocals from Have a Cigar once and Roy Harper sounded pretty bad. May have been the making of the album documentary.
Try this on for size:

Me either. Not a fan of CCR at all...and definitely hate that Center Field song.

Vince Neil of Motley Crue is and always was terrible live.

His pseudo-Howlin' Wolf voice can sometimes sound very mannered and secondhand, like Jagger does on some tracks.
But it's nowhere near bad enough to ruin the often great songs

he was a cover band
Where in the rule book does it say a band has to write their own material?
If that were a law it would drop a lot of Motown acts from the playlist
This is similar to something I've always liked about Bruce Springsteen: he made it respectable to be a bar band. To get on stage not to front electronic stage trickery or "Worship me and my great cocksmanship", but rather just to give the best, most energetic musical show he could.

Yes Sir when I hear John sing its like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Never was a fan.

When he sings without the affectation ("Lookin' Out My Back Door") he's fine

Morrissey can't sing for shite. I love the Smiths, but sometimes he sounds like someone dragging fingernails across a chalkboard.

Tonya Donnelly is painful to listen to.
Maybe this category should be divided between singers who have lost it due to age or bad technique, and those who could never sing in the first place.

But that classic VH sound was awesome back in the day.

Billy Corgan is the patron saint of bad rock singers.
I think his voice has improved with age based on seeing the Pumpkins live a couple times the last few years. I'm sure it will still annoy some, but he sounded fine to me.
