Where does Exile on Main Street rank on your all-time list?

Just listened from beginning to end while cooking dinner and it got me thinking.
The only way I can describe this album is - it isn't filled with songs that I skip to on iTunes a lot (there isn't one in my top 25) but if I had to choose a top 5 of albums to listen to all the way through, without skipping, it would easily make the list.
ETA: The opening riff of Rocks Off is one of the best opening riffs of all time.

Tumbling Dice is an awesome song. It sounds sloppy and great.

Great album. If you were to ask me my top 20 favorite bands I doubt I'd name The Rolling Stones. But that album is forever a top10 on my personal favorite list.

Top ten, along with two others of theirs, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers. Beggar's Banquet is Top twenty, probably Top fifteen.
One hell of a prolific run they had there.

Phish did the entire album on Halloween in 2009, with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. It was quite an experience to hear it live.

It's no Let It Bleed, but its pretty damn great.

Pretty damn high. Top 10, but not top 5. Still, it is perfectly imperfect. All about just letting loose and letting fly. You are right that the whole is better than the sum of its parts. Favorite Stones album.

Bought it when it was first released (yeah- that f ing old) and probably have had it via every medium (vinyl, 8 track, cassette, cd and mp3). Not a bad song on it despite the double album length. The reissue last year also had a few new songs that are really good.

Agreed. I do recognize EOMS' greatness. The doc Stones in Exile about the making of it is damn good. Bobby Keys talking cracks me up.
As far as EOMS reissue, it's full of terrific songs: Plundered My Soul, Following The River
Plundered

I still can't agree. To me, EOMS is a perfect album. It's deeper than the '01 Miami Hurricanes.

Stones isn't really in my absolute favorite bands list. So it wouldn't be that high on my all time list. Not top 10, I do think it is great though.

Phish opened up with this at their last show in NOLA (9.26.99 I believe)
