I’m sure Taylor Swift is a good lyricist but I have not heard one song of hers that has a good melody.
This is just dumb. She has plenty of good melodies.

It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel I'll convey
Some inner truth or vast reflection
But I've said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it don't matter who you are
If I'm doing my job, it's your resolve that breaks

I'll take a Swifties word for it.

I listen to talk radio. I don’t think I’ve listened to a station with music since I was in high school.

1) explains a lot
2) who said anything about listening to the radio?

Right now I am listening to Jellyroll.

There's a joke about you having jelly legs and rolling around everywhere but I'm gonna let someone else make it cause I'm trying to be a nicer person.

Lyrics. The music can't suck of course, but it's there to support the poetry and not the other way around IMO

There are songs I’ve listened to hundreds of times that I don’t know the words to.

I usually listen trying to understand what each instrument is doing and what role they are playing.

Based on experience I will say the melody. Back in the old days my wife and I were driving my sweet grandmother somewhere and playing a Simon And Garfunkel cassette. Before that I never realized some of the things they were saying. My gm was just nodding her head to the music and smiling.

I guess the melody first but I’ve made a point to pay more attention to lyrics as I’ve gotten older. It’s helped me appreciate music in new ways without a doubt.

Straight up musical instruments. I don't hardly any words to any songs from my whole life. You prob guess I'm a musician. Words just ruin good musicians hard work.
