I'm sure Zeppelin's first and Appetite have been mentioned. I think Skid Row's first record qualifies here, it's a fantastic debut. Images and Words is technically not Dream Theater's first record but it is the first with LaBrie on vocals so I say it counts.

Not my favorite ever (probably Communication Breakdown), but one that I thought this board might appreciate better than the same boomer choices:
Cage The Elephant


When this album dropped, it was everything alt rock wasn't. It was loud, raw, angsty, and full of emotion and message. Literally none of their music since has been anything like this.
