As mentioned, it is cool to hate on the Eagles.

I enjoy them. I don't care if "you" do not. Their only fault I can recall is they were the first to rape their fans for tickets in a reunion tour? $75 tickets in the early to mid 90's was outrageous.

After watching the documentary, Frey and Henley can be dicks. Still like some of their stuff. Only thing about them is that they take no chances. The only thing they've done that's 'different' is Walsh on Eagles Live (1980) on Life's Been Good - "they write Tim letters, to tell Glenn Don's great"

Watched it about a year ago and I didn't find Henley to be a dick but Frey came off as a piece of shite douche bag. I was burned out on them for a while but they have a lot of songs I still like.

They just bore me

Nothing against people that like the eagles, just not my thing. I feel as though they lack originality.

About 45 minutes to go in the documentary. This is really good. Damn, did they take a movie camera with them everywhere? Hate to see what they would have shot if smartphones were around.

Don't think they ever got that real creative spark back. Of course, they did clean up. Bowie lost his too when he got off the coke.

Walsh is a great example of what drugs can do to a body and how they can age how you look.

The only problem with the Eagles is they are boring. Other than that I like them.

I like the live stuff. Wasted Time and Witchy Woman are probably the two I really like.

It's just hip today to hate on them.

True to a large extent. They are to the Music Board what Olive Garden is to the Food Board. Both are mediocre but not really hate worthy.

Except maybe Hotel California.

The Eagles are a high-end melodic, arguably pop, rock band. Their music is huge on melody, but not a lot of depth. They're like Fleetwood Mac, just from country roots v. blues roots.
Steely Dan is probably the best melodic band from the U.S....a lot more depth to their music than Eagles, such that SD can be considered with the great rock bands.

I'm not sure I could disagree more. No depth on Rhiannon or Landslide? No depth on I Can't Tell You Why? Pretty Maids?

Come on, mang.

That being said, one year ago today I saw the Eagles live in New Orleans, and I can say it's one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Worth the $200 price tag. Not only was the music great (everyone still had their chops), but it was like getting together with a bunch of old friends you hadn't seen in a long time, and picking things up like you hadn't seen them since yesterday.
