yeah... I meant more from the sense of since Ive known about them... On the touring end of OAI and by the time Aeroplane came out (and the classic lineup) they were out of GA... Im not arguing any position of right or wrong... just the way Ive always though of them..

Axis had a short run but it's members had more success performing with others.

That is true. They played a lot of Zep covers when they were coming up in New Orleans and later in the New York/Long Island area. They even put a cover of The Ocean on their live album (honestly, I skip that one when it comes on. I don't care for it much).

Reading this thread reveals how truly pitiful Louisiana's music scene and history is. It's pretty sad.

It is impossible to overstate Louisiana's importance to American music: Dixieland Jazz, New Orleans R&B, cajun/zydeco, swamp pop, The Louisiana Hayride... No state's music has had more of an impact (although Miss may have had more on R&R specifically).
However it is true that, except for Jerry Lee, LA's contribution to mainstream white rock has been minimal.
What's especially disappointing is the lack of white acts continuing the New Orleans R&B tradition (aside from Dr. John).

Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tim McGraw, Allen Toussaint, The Meters, The Nevilles, Irma Thomas, Ernie K-Doe, Mannie Fresh, The Continental Drifters, Theresa Anderson, Marva Wright, Dr. John, Anders Osborne, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Faron Young, Clifton Chenier, Galactic, and many, many others say "hi".

Yep.

True, although there have been some terrific bands. I think the ambitions of the most talented, however, seem to gravitate to our indigenous, so to speak, music.

The Louisiana Hayride was a pretty big deal in the 50's.

It was a huge deal. There was this one famous guy in particular . . . what was his name? Oh yeah, Elvis Presley.
