Fleetwood Mac (picture them without Buckingham, C. McVie and Nicks)

They honestly could have changed names that change was so big.

That's not hard to do. They were a fairly well known quality band prior to the change. Fleetwood Mac Green Manilishi

It’s either the people who founded the band or the players on the first released record.

I think either definition is fine.

The single person not using their name is really getting popular.

So, you also agree the only original member of the Foo fighters is Dave Grohl...

Yeah - I think a lot of times that involves some sort of insecurity about using their own name...

Your questions is pretty easy to answer. The original members of the band were: Robbie, Garth, Rick, Levon and Richard.
Oh wait, I thought you said the band, not a band.

Take Rush, by your definition, only Alex Lifeson is an original member that people would know, Geddy Lee came after the band was formed and Peart came after the debut album, but they made Rush the complete band and those three, if you ask someone are the three they will name as Rush.

Since they recorded an album with the other drummer, I consider that the original band. In my opinion it was their best record too but I like rock and roll better than the later music.
