What is the best system you recall for listening pleasure?
My favorite was in school. We had an awesome Onkyo amp, Pioneer tuner, Pioneer equalizer, Marantz turntable, and TEAC tape deck, Bose 901 speakers.
We piece-mealed this together amongst roommates. Absolutely rocked! Music took on a whole 'nother level.

I have played in bands since I was a teenager and have had PA systems since then. A good mixer will make even a run of the mill tuner, turntable, or tape player sound much better. Whether it's a home sound system or PA, Yamaha gear is always good. There are better but it'll cost you. I do prefer QSC power amps. They cost a little more but are worth it imo.

My parents bought a cabinet Philips stereo in the early 70s. Even when I was a teenager in the late 80s, that thing would still rattle pictures off the wall. I used to love to blast my dad's old ZZ Top and Boston records on that thing.

Mighty Klipschorns powered by various preamps and amps over the years. My favorite was probably Marantz 8b tube amp and Paragon tube preamp. Technics SP10 turntable.
I hate that I had to sell 'em off because of downsizing to a smaller house and there aren't two good corners for them

My dad was an audiophile and had a pair of Bozak speakers - great sound for that era - usually played vinyl w/a Dual turntable.
I have a Marantz driving Definitive Technology towers (w/powered subs), center speaker (upward firing), and rear surrounds. All I need.

Kraco 8 track with a spar comatic 40 watt amp and speakers in my 70 Galaxie white on white with the hideaway headlights, also known as The Ghost.
Might have been blasting Boston, Bad Company, Grand Funk or Johnny Horton.

My current one. I've gone whole house audio and a big home theater system.
Now I have an NAD Masters Series M33 streaming integrate amp, a pair of Dynaudio Special 40 speakers, a U Turn turntable and a Triad 18" 1000 watt subwoofer. Simple and it sounds fantastic.
