Good melodies are timeless. However, promotion is critical to success. She loves you was released in the US in 1963 by a small label. Didn't do anything. When Capitol released it in 64, went to #1.
Without you was written and released by Bad finger. Wasn't promoted well by the struggling Apple label. 3 years later Nillsen released it and it was the song of the year. I think Mariah Carey did it 20 years later and had a hit as well.

Any of them would need to be recorded again to add the effects and layers that listeners of pop music expect to hear these days. Content wise, tons of older songs could be hits today.

I always thought "It Ain't Over Til It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz had a Motown feel to it.
