What kind of money do you think a band like Drive by Truckers get for a gig?

Just curious on y'alls opinion on what a band like DBT or someone at a similar level gets per gig or what those guys clear a year

Great question, I've always wondered myself what a decent band gets in one night.
Edit: Obviously it depends on the venue, but there should be some norm.

They pull between like 20-30K. I think that's their festival pricing as venue shows typically pay a small lump sum guaranteed and then a percentage of ticket sales after costs are covered. Pricing varies based on whether it's tour vs. one-off and festival vs. venue.

That seems pretty high even for a special festival but you could be right. Once you get outside the radio top 40 very few bands can sell 1,000 tickets

Look at the ticket prices and sizes of the venues they play for their solo shows. That should give you a good idea of what they make. Festival pricing is probably a little different.

Whatever it is, they are worth it for Cooley's songs alone.

Yeah, I've seen that list is really interesting but I think that a list of what some of those acts got or ask for at one point in their career
How long as it been since Travis Tritt got 75-100K? He played a local show recently for like 200-500 seat place with 10-20 dollar tickets and it wasn't sold out..... Tracy Lawernce isn't getting 40K than are many other examples

Ask BlackenedOut since Hogs booked DBT a few years ago.

Avicii and Chris Cornell are still listed and very affordable

It was my understanding that most bands have a set price (or close to it), that promoters pay out to the band's management team. Regardless of ticket sales, they get paid a set amount. If the venue is undersold, the promoter is the one on the hook for it.
Festivals are obviously a little different because they don't have as much of a liability, stage setup, lighting (if they have a set during the day), etc.

That all boils down to contracting and who's repping the show. If joe blow wants to book a band then yeah - that flat rate is typically what will be agreed upon. But when bands go on tour a lot of times they will do a payout with a smaller guaranteed lump sum and then a percentage of sales once production costs have been met.
And different groups will be charged differently - I know fraternities and Universities get gouged because they're viewed as loose spenders who are able to afford it. But when booking managers are scheduling a tour they're trying to flesh out dates to make a complete/financially-viable tour.

depends on the gig for how much they get paid. 800 capacity venue at a $25 per ticket comes to 20k.
but it's all about what kind of deal from show to show gets negotiated obviously

that seems high for the DBT. but maybe so these days.
Most touring bands will get a guarantee + a split at a certain point. For instance i did a show with Shovels and Rope.
Guarantee was $1200 I believe with a split of 80/20 after $1800. the 600 gap being expenses and support. that show sold out at $15 a head x 240
so the house made $360 and covered expenses (sound, promotion etc.) Alcohol sales being the money maker.

This seems pretty realistic and probably the case for 90% of the bands with ticket prices ranging from 10-20 and maybe a few places will get 500 people
