Cream was the first group that came to mind- 3 outstanding musicians all highly regarded by their peers!
I can see others saying The Beatles, which is valid, all 4 had impressive careers...
Humble Pie should get honorable mention.

How are we defining "supergroup"? Do they have to be assembled for that purpose and purposely record an album as that group?
