What genre of music has the best concerts?

When I was a teenager I was mostly into hard rock, metal and all the sub-genres and went to many shows. They were almost all smaller-mid size venues and the atmosphere and vibe was always amazing. The energy of these shows was intense from beginning to end and you always felt a part of the performance.
Over the past few years I have been to many different types of shows from psychedelic to country and classic rock in venues ranging from historic auditoriums and theaters to NFL stadiums. No matter how much I love the artist I saw I never have that experience during the show or leave with that "feeling" I got with heavy rock/metal shows. I always feel like only an observer and feel empty. My girlfriend always asks what I thought about the shows when we leave and I tell her but she doesn't understand since she has never been to that type of concert.
So, does anybody else feel this way? And like the title of this thread states, what genre of music do you think has the "best" concerts.

Small Venue and Packed Rock Concert.
That's a transcendent experience.
Arenas suck immensely, even if you're on the floor, even for Rock.

I agree, you can feel every note of the music its so loud and you lose about 10 pounds through jumping around and sweating.

Godsmack seemed to alway have very spectacular concerts recorded. So whatever genre Godsmack is of. Godsmack according to Sully Erna doesnt label the genre of his band. So my answer is the unlabeled genre!

Acoustic sets at small clubs, or maybe jazz concerts on account of the generally excellent musicianship.
Rock concerts, especially arena concerts personify the cheesiness that's at the heart of rock music. I understand that rock can't exist without cheesiness, it's an essential part of the music and the experience–but it gets unbearably over the top at a typical concert, an event marked mostly by a string of cliche gestures and pronouncements.

Saw the Black Crows at HOB. that's about perfect. Size of a club/big bar and house band happens to be awesome.
Blues guitar and bluesy vocals translate best live to my ear.

The idea may get laughed at here, but the "greatest concert experience" is a gospel show.
The audience is not only part of the show, but everyone unites in the idea that they are all involved in something greater than they are.
