Got to see them a few times at small venues. Loved it.

Straight up blues or southern soul/r&b in small clubs or bars. Some of the best live shows I've seen were in the old, old Tabby's Blues Box on North Street that they torn down to build the new overpass.

I think it's always better to see a band/artist in a venue that's a little smaller than what they should be playing as opposed to a little too big of a room.
And anyone that laughs at the power of a good gospel concert never set foot in the gospel tent during jazz fest.

Seeing bands like Love and Rockets, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cult, Nine Inch Nails, Helmet, Jane's Addiction, KMFDM, The Cramps and Pearl Jam at Tipitinas in New Orleans.
Good list.
Like most I started off in coliseums and big venues but as I've gotten older give me a smaller venue (One Eyed Jacks, Varsity) so I can take a piss and get a beer and be back in front in a couple of minutes.

The best are the small venues with the big names in the most unlikely of places.
My dad met JJ Cale at a bar in Scott of all places and had a nice chat with him. This was in the 1970s.
Both of my parents went to go see Greg Brown in Houston last year and drank with him and his band.

Jam bands at large festivals, surrounded by 60,000 people, sitting to the left of the girl who likes to hoolahoop and to the right of the group of hippies that keep bitching that your feet keep touching their 20'x20' patchwork blanket, man.

Pine knob near Pontiac Michigan. Has an intimate setting with a pavilion and Behind is a grassy mound. Awesome setting. Saw some great bands their from 1976 to 1979.

The largest venue I've ever seen a band in was the UNO Lakefront Arena for Chicago in about 1985 then the Cure in 87, 89, 92 and 16. I really had a great run at Tips, the Howling Wolf, Jimmy's, NO Music Hall, State Palace and even HOB during the late 80's and throughout the 90's. Once they hit the big arenas I usually take a pass, because who wants to see those bands sitting in a chair? The Cure is an exception, obviously.

I agree that live rap is the best. I wouldn't call it "chills" but after waiving my hands in the air like I just don't care for so long I have the urge to drink 40's and commit crimes. Thus, I consider this genre the best.

rock or electronic on drugs ?

Arena rock. Too bad it's a lost art.

Rock/Metal especially in a smaller packed venue.
Ghost at The Varsity in April was amazing with an amazing atmosphere/crowd.

live rap is clearly the best
LOL.
No.
Artists with TALENT are easily the best. You know, people who can actually play their own music and play an instrument.
I've been to many rap concerts. Jay Z was my last one and I will never go to another one.
Metal, rock and blues shows are the best.

I vote for rock, metal or blues at venues like HOB, or either Varsity.

Reggae and Blues. Festivals in the 90's were great live.
Country was meh live.
Most heavy rock bands were just distorted and loud.
And Rap of course is the most god-awful waste of a ticket.
