Why can't you do it?

Why can't you set your monkey free?

I admit in the 80s I was a hater...but as I have gotten older, I have come to appreciate the talent.

I wasn't exactly a hater, but thought he was a lightweight until I saw him nail Somebody To Love" on the Freddie Tribute show.

Never really cared much for his music. Good singer, decent songwriter, not my cup of tea.

Magnificent voice. Could've been so much more.

Yep, there's a story to that though (according to the book). With the massive success that he had during the Faith tour and record sales, he could not handle the fame, the sacrifice of touring months after months and realized that that type of lifestyle did not make him happy.

That's why he put the foot off the pedal in the 90's. And did not tour in America for over a decade all the way to mid 2000's.

Okay, his voice wasn't"terrible" his music sure as hell was. Almost unlistenable.

Same scenario with Prince. Decent guitar player, horrible songs after 1985.

Upper Greenville.

In the old days I used to hang out at the Theater Gallery & Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum. Those were fun days …before it became gentrified.

I was at that Miami show in 1988 and it was an incredible concert. He was a great performer.

Yes.

Great music especially as it evolved. Many great hits.

Yes he is just being stupid. Prince is the best all-around musician to ever pick up an instrument. Most of the legends in music history would say the same thing.

Prince "hurt" his legacy by not being a cookie cutter rock star. He constantly changed his look and sound, and rarely gave interviews, but still became and remains the legend he is.

Great singer. Talented and probably underrated songwriter. Enjoy quite a bit of his music.

Me too, at the Orange Bowl. I was 16 at the time, nobody wanted to join me so I went by myself. Parents dropped me off and then picked me up. Can't remember how we coordinated without cell phones.
