Yelling over samples of drums and Jimmy Page guitar riffs. Stupid AF in my opinion, but at least those chose a Zep riff.

I think some of it may be the age you were at the time. Their early stuff happened to be at the time I was in high school partying and their music fit.
While I know all of their well-known songs and generally like them, the only full album I ever listened to often was Ill Communication. Songs like Get it Together and some of their instrumental-only songs made me appreciate them more (than I did with the party songs like Brass Monkey and Paul Revere).

Yep, practically every song was some Jimmy Page sample.
Exhibit B: The girlies I like are underage

For most people where you are in your life agewise determines how much you like music. Your middle school through high school years form most people's favorites.

This is when they went downhill. I liked the drunk, party boy jews better than the no fun buddhists.

Brass Monkey bruh, ain't nothing boring about that beat.

They went downhill when they let DJ Hurricane go. Mix Master Mike fricked around too much for my tastes. Especially live.

Meh. The Beastie Boys were fairly well accepted by old school hip-hop fans of all shades.
Along with Run-DMC, they did the most for the potential of merging rock with hip-hop.

Not surprisingly, that's the only rap I've ever cared for.
