Charlie Daniels played bass on 3 Bob Dylan albums in '69 and '70.

Waylon Jennings was Buddy Holly's bass player ... lost the coin toss to Ritchie Valens to board the plane that crashed.

His son, Shooter Jennings, played the part of Waylon Jennings in I Walk the Line.

I'd heard that James Burton wrote/played the original Merle recording of Working Man Blues. Y'all may have known that.

Something else I found out later on in life was that both Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs were at one time members of Pure Prairie League.

Among many, many others. He and John Paul Jones were both on a Who's-Who of popular recordings before the Yardbirds or Zeppelin.

rick wakeman appears on black sabbath's 'sabbath bloody sabbath' album. he refused compensation for participating, so he was "paid" with a large quantity of beer instead
