Guitar magazine guitarist of the year a few times, not quite underrated. Closer to hardly followed.

I stand corrected. I used to keep up with the magazine. But since Dimebag was killed, that was the last issue I bought!

I'll go with some guys in twin lead guitar bands.

Dave Murray---Iron Maiden
Matthias Jabs---The Scorpions
Glen Tipton---Judas Priest
Mikael Akerfeldt/Peter Lindgren (formerly)---Opeth

I agree. Fredrik Akesson is technically superior to Peter, though. I know he wasn't as comfortable on acoustic as Peter at first, but he's definitely improved there.

Yeah, but I just loved Peter's style and sound more than anything. I love 'noodlers' just as much as the next guy, but I don't love Fredrik's solos, they almost seem not to fit in the songs. Peter's solos were haunting and eerie.

I really can't disagree there, but I prefer Mikael over both of them as far as style and phrasing goes. I'm really not a fan of noodlers. I prefer someone like Devin Townsend. He can do most of the noodly shite, but he prefers to play within context.

Jackie Vincent from falling in reverse. Horrendous band, the guy could genuinely reach virtuoso status if he would get in a band that could push him farther.

This. I also think when he is associated with Creed, people automatically dismiss him as a great guitarist, which is bullshite.

Oh yeah:

Rusty Cooley
Guthrie Govan
Troy Stetina
John Petrucci
