I love Tyler but c’mon. He isn’t even in the same ballpark as Sturgill. Tyler is a one trick pony.

Sturgill is definitely the more creative versatile artist. His range is all over the creative spectrum.

Tyler has the better voice, better lyrics, and catchier songs in general.

He’s a better story teller and is a lot younger.

It’s fine. It’s just not the Sturgill sound that I fell in love with

If your reasoning for liking Sturgill more is because he does so much different stuff, and does it so well, then I can't really disagree with you.

Tyler may be a one trick pony, but if you really like that trick that the pony does, then it isn't really a knock on him. That's where I stand.

I guess that's where we differ, because it actually is the Sturgill sound that I fell in love with.

It's also the reason I would put Marcus King Band right behind these two.

as far as? sturgill is a better guitarist.

is he a better singer? no. he'll tell you that.

does he write better lyrics and tell better stories through songs? not in my opinion.

I'll take "Purgatory" Tyler over just about any artist. I'll take most of Sturgill Simpsons's stuff over "Country Squire".

Sailor's Guide is Sturgill's most heartfelt album. He wrote it for his newborn son and wife. The emotion in that album is unbelievable. It's #1 for me.

But do you want to see that pony do the same trick for the rest of your life? That fact that Sturgill is more versatile answers this question.

I'm with you. I like Tyler, but Sturgill is on a whole different level. I love Sturgill's creativity. He has created some masterful music. Tyler is good, but it is pretty boring in comparison.
