I know Randy Rogers Band is more of a mainstream hit but they're still Texas country. Me personally, I like what Turnpike does with the accordion a lot. I also think their singer has a better voice. Two of my favorite Texas bands out there right now. But I think I like turnpike a little better.

FYI: Turnpike Troubadours are playing The Stage in Bossier 8/26

This was one of the first things that turned me on with this band. Diamonds and Gasoline is so well written.

If it was 2008 rrb vs today's TT for me it would be close. Now today's Rrb vs today's TT. It's TT and it's not even close.

Even tho thier last couple albums has sucked, when it's just randy and Brady acoustic to me that is the best. Their studio stuff is WAY over produced.

IMO Randy's best is better than Turnpike's best.

But current Turnpike is better than current Randy.

Saw Randy live last week. I'll still give him a slight edge but I listen to both regularly

No booze allowed on the bus anymore, so they are not getting smashed pre-show these days. I think they still drink a little but have definitely toned the partying way down. It was necessary to keep the band moving in the direction they're trying to go.

TT easily for me.

I like RRB but never really have the urge to put them on. TT is probably in the top 3 of the bands I enjoy listening to and seeing live these days. I don't know if they're in my top 3 current bands, that's a somewhat different metric.

Love them both but Turnpike has the edge for me. 7&7 was the song that introduced me to Texas country.

I like TT a lot but RRB was awesome back in the day. Hard to believe but I think first RRB concert I went to was 10 or 11 years ago. I haven't cared for the last few albums but the old stuff is great.

RRB, Jason Boland, Reckless Kelly, Eli Young Band took "Texas country" to a whole new audience playing college towns across the south. As someone who grew up on country it was breath of fresh air from mainstream country at the time.

Jerry Jeff, REK, and later, Pat Green did the same thing in the 90's.

I saw Jerry Jeff 2 nights ago at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles. He can still play and work a crowd, just doesn't move around as much

And Cory Morrow, Roger Creager, Ragweed, and every other Texas/Red Dirt artist ever.

Turnpike for sure. Although the RRB/Wade Bowen "Hold my Beer and Watch This" tour is still one of my favorite live shows I've seen.

Good for them. Did not know this was an issue, but I saw them at Chilifest, so thats not entirely surprising.

Their new live album from this tour is outstanding.
