I dunno. I'm not all that knowledgeable about concerts but would be interested in some of the answers from the good people of the Music Board.

Excluding music festivals:

*KISS
*ZZ Top/Cheap Trick
*Charlie Daniels/Marshall Tucker
*Foreigner
*Boston

All in their prime. The 70s were by far the best era for concerts AND music.

The Last Waltz (absolute must watch)

Monsters of Rock (1991 Pantera for me)

Doors @ The Bowl

Allman Bros At Fillmore East

About 20 different shows from Woodstock '69 [Hendrix, Santana, Ten Years After (only one song from their set made it out) , Mountain, Canned Heat...]

I feel like there are hundreds that could be on here from every genre.

Well, this isn’t the best time for this advice but, once we get beyond the pandemic, go see more concerts. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival would be a great place to start.

Ever seen the Woodstock movie? That was kind of a big concert. Before that there was the Monterey Pop Festival in ‘67 when the world was introduced to Janice Joplin. Before that was the Newport Folk Festival in ‘65 when Dylan went electric. That was a big deal at the time.

"From Spirituals To Swing" concert at Carnegie Hall, produced by John Hammond (1938). Probably the most significant pop music concert of all time

Gospel show at the L.A. Shrine auditorium (1955). Highlighted by Sam Cooke's performance with The Soul Stirrers

The Ramones in London (July 4-5, 1976). Their first shows outside NYC. Attended by members of The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Damned and The Adverts, among others

Hendrix at Monterey (1967) -- I don't care if you said no festivals

The Velvet Underground in Dallas and San Francisco (1969). Aside from being great shows the resulting live album was available when the band's other records were almost impossible to find, providing inspiration to many listeners. As Brian Eno said: "Only a few thousand people heard The Velvet Underground, but they all started bands".

My two biggest were probably: Van Halen 1984 tour and KISS Reunion Tour 1996 at the Superdome.

That Who set was unreal. They owned the place. All those policemen, firefighters, and their friends and family in attendance. So much pent up anger, rage, and frustration released during that. I love watching their set every one in a while.
