We gotta pull in the solo artists otherwise, UK stacked, US fricked
in terms of music today, the US far outpaces the UK.
Not saying the UK doesn't produce some great music but the US is just cranking it out at the moment, and has for the last 15 years.
The brits heyday was 60s and early 70s, plus the late 80s/early 90s. its just their heyday really changed the face of music.

there's always contempt for current music but here's my opinions of how we'll be looking back in 10 years from now as far as music goes.... and yeah, there's not much British in either list....at all.
Favorable
Katy Perry
Mumford and Sons
Black Keys
Lady Gaga
One Direction
Certain Miley Cyrus songs
Kanye West
Stale
Anything that's a meme (gangnam style, fox, harlem shake etc)
Justin Beiber
Taylor Swift

Gotta add Todd Rundgren to the US group, and throw in Utopia with him if you want. The dude's literally a one-man band. He's the most talented musician/songwriter/producer I've ever seen. He's composed and recorded some brilliant music that spans multiple genres but he's never gotten the recognition he deserves.
edt: Chuck Berry should be on the list too.

Not totally on topic, but America owns Hip Hop and Country.

We completely and unequivocally blow Britain out of the water if you include blues and jazz artists.

They have a foot in both camps. Can't call them American.

It closes the gap, but no way we "blow Britain out of the water". I love the USA :isa:, but but we lose this one bro.....sad but true.
