I refuse to believe anything a Tool band member says regarding a new album until it's officially announced or released. In 2014, Adam Jones said the new album was nearly finished.
It's 2019 now.

You must visit the Tool subreddit frequently too 
All signs point to them being in the home stretch. As optimistic as Danny has been in the past, this seems different. This isn't the vague "oh it will be this year".
I'm still waiting on something official. But I think we will hear new Tool soon. I cannot wait.

No matter how good the album is, its not going to live up to a majority of peoples expectations after it taking this long.

10K was no Lateralus or Aenima, but it wasn’t a slouch either.
Some solid tracks on it.
The original indications were that they were going back to the Aenima days with this new album, but we will see.

Its certainly not trash by todays standards. But to say a majority of tool fanatics were underwhelmed is an understatement. And that was after what, 5 or 6 years?
Maybe given the vacuum we're in musically they cant lose. I have high expectations for this album regardless

Keeping my expectations very low so I'm not disappointed. I'll be happy if they put something out at least as good a quality as the latest APC album.
