I had the same thoughts too man. By the time 10,000 days came out, I was a pretty huge fan. And even then seemed like an incredibly long wait for a new album. You at least had APC to hold you over a little then if that was your thing. But 13 fricking years? I’m a completely different person now like you. It is pretty cool to sort of step back into those previous “feels” from way back. It feels like I’m rediscovering parts of myself from the past. Hard to describe.

My dad passed away a week before 10,000 days hit. It's crazy to think about, bc we had a Lateralus listening session when I was 18 together that I'll forever cherish.
It's crazy to think about how we are all totally different people, life is weird.
I listened to FI again cranked up to 11 on my way in from work, and followed it with the 2 live masters of Invincible and Descending. This album is going to be beyond epic. It's going to turn a lot of fans off though I can tell. There's not going to be a "The Pot" or "jambi" type straight forward rock songs. It's going to be a full 89 minutes of Third Eye, 10,000 days, Reflection-type songs, and while I'm ecstatic about that. I have a feeling a ton of people are not going to be,

No problem with this. I'm ready.

I have to say I'm not in love with this first track.
But like most Tool songs that are like this one, it'll probably grow on me a lot.

Is that official or someone’s interpretation?
Have yall read the interpretations on genius.com? Here is the link. For those who haven't used this website, you can click the lyrics and fans have jumped in to try to interpret it. They upvote/downvote and suggest different things. Many artists actually come in and verify the lyrics if they can. I'm sure Maynard never will but it's interesting food for thought.

I can confirm with each listen it gets better. It took me a long time to get into 10,000 days, I outright barely listened to it back in 2006 because I wasn't ready for it, and by that album release I had seen TOOL live 5 times.
Now I absolutely love it.
Like a fine (caduceus) wine, TOOL ages gracefully with time.

Everyone is running with "mania" I definitely think it's "media". It goes along with everything MJK has been preaching lately. Mania doesn't fit at all.

I am going with "mania" just because it sounds like mania haha.
Media seems like such a weak lyric for someone like him. I do get what you mean though with all his interviews. Just seems so over the top simple.

I thought this too. But how do you feel about "you must have been, HIGH!"

I'm pretty sure during Rogan MJK actually said "there's so much venom in social media"
seems legit.
I'll put a (?) and mania in the OP
also consider the lyrics to APC's Disillusioned, entirely about this subject

I figured some venom can turn you crazy. It's a mania that we are in. Sure the media helps cause the mania but there are more things happening that cause the mania.
"Growing through delusion from mania"
Again, media or mania can fit here. I figured he was doing "mania" to cover all his bases. All forms of disillusion.
ETA - Just to be clear. I don't care at the end of the day what the word is. I'm sure the album will come with the lyrics which will solve this haha

The entire song has so many older song vibes.
I get disposition, the patient, and pushit (salival and AEnima) from the intro
Eulogy, Grudge, 10,000 days at the end.
Reflection in the middle.

I think Tool usually release official lyrics for their music? Can anyone verify?
I think either word fits too. Doesn’t matter to me.

I know on Amazon Music, the lyrics display as the song plays and it is Mania on there. Not sure the origin of the lyric content on there and how official it is

they used to post them on toolband or toolshed back in the day.
There's a track-listing on genius.com claiming this is the track-list, not sure if this is confirmed or not (probably a joke) but alas:
obviousl Grillo is a wine grape and the final track are jokes, hopefully
