*even though I don't really consider celine dion a musician, i'll accept her just for this list*

It's hard to tell how serious or tongue in cheek that article may be. I do know this, however. Whether you agree with the list or not, The LA Weekly is one of the most self-congratulatory and self-conscious, not to mention phony, publications in America. When I lived out there I'd pick it up for their music, film and art listings and to laugh at everything else.

I totally agree on that list. Some of those listed (Kenny G, Moby, Belle and Sebastian especially) are like Black people kryptonite.

Jack White and Eric Clapton do not belong on that list

That article is inaccurate, lazy, and pretentious as frick.
I hate music critics who play those cards. You know that in 10 years if Arcade Fire is still around they will be on a shitty snobby list like that.
It's too bad Bono didn't die in a plane crash after Zooropa as he'd be up there with John Lennon in rock mythology.

Well no, that would be racist.

What do we mean when we say an act is "the whitest?" We mean musicians without anyflavor at all, the musical equivalent of a mashed potato sandwich with mayonnaise on white bread. We mean a total lack of influences from R&B, jazz, soul and blues;
They failed by their own criteria.

I can agree on Jack White, but to me, Clapton is the epitome of white boy blues

Did you just puke over Eric Clapton?

Eric Clapton and Mike McDonald should NOT be on the list...Jack White? In "name" only.
How could they possibly leave off the original RickRoll-- Rick Astley?!
Probably the whitest dancing ever on video.

Nickleback would have been the obvious answer.
