The Sugar Mill in N.O. - Worst acoustic venue I've ever been to

I've seen quite a few shows in my day..Music is probably one of my main passions.
With that said, multiple people said the sound was bad in there, yet it still was worse than I thought.
I saw them open at the Ryman, which is an incredible place acoustically. If you enjoyed the Alabama Shakes last night, just wait until you see them at a normal venue.

McAlister Auditorium at Tulane. Terrible acoustics.

Ended up front row and the sound was probably about as good as I could hope for in the room. Not awful actually.
Crowd had a lot of morons. Not antic wise, just dumb people. Overheard some terrible comments.

I've seen alabama shakes twice and they were garbage both times. The Sugar Mill is 20x better than the other venues in nola for size. The acoustics suck in every single nola venue so I don't think that matters. The big venue used to be "the warehouse" which is where the grateful dead, allman brothers, and doors would play. the acoustics sucked there too but it had room to accomodate the people. What other venue can accomodate that many people in new orleans?

Louisiana needs an amphitheater so bad. I don't even care if it is one of those cookie cutter ones, because even those have proven sound design now. Build a 15,000 person amphitheater in Kenner,brah.
Eta:Or the northshore. I only say this because most venues like that are in suburbs of major cities IE The Woodlands,Alpharetta,etc..

yea brah, but thats easier to do in a place that isnt a fricking swamp where you can use hills and such to create a natural amphitheater. when i was in amsterdam, they also couldnt build an amphitheater because of the terrain but they had some badass floating venues like the melkweg

Maybe out in Bush or Folsom? They have some gentle hills out there. Plenty of space too. No hoteys nearby though, so that is an obvious problem.
I think the ideal location would be just north of I 12 in Covington, where they have a decent amount of undeveloped land. Several hotels around too, which is essential.

They play in assigned seat theatre venues all over the country.

What venues have you been to other than the ones in Louisiana?
