I think that's his thing. He's kind of an a-hole.
I saw them at the howling wolf (now republic), off of the Is This It? tour... they were fricking tight and it was a good show...
They had the NYC swagger, but it was in good fun at that time...

eta: I haven't listened to Brandon Flowers solo efforts either, but I really liked Julian Casablancas' Phrazes for the Young.
I think Phrazes for the Young was great. Like every song on that album. Wish I saw him when he came to New Orleans solo. Think it was at Republic at one of those concerts that go on around Jazz Fest time. Was studying for law school finals though at the time.

Killers>>Strokes
The Strokes always presented themselves as l.a. scene-sters to me. I didn't buy into their image and their music just fell off after Is This It?
That being said I'm not a huge Killers fan but given that match up I will go with Killers all day.

Big fan of both...But the Killers rock. Sam's Town and Hot Fuss were phenomenal, as are many of their B-sides. And comparing the live experience, being up front at a Killers show will rock you whereas the Strokes are hit and miss.
Classic Killers songs: All these things that I've done, Sam's Town, When you were Young, Read my Mind, the 2 pop hits from the first album, Romeo and Juliet, A Dustland Fairytale and I am a huge fan of 'This River is Wild'
This River is Wild

Honest opinion is the killers wrote better songs.
This is it was fantastic, but they were never able to match it or come close to it afterwards.
The killers put out consistently good rock and roll records for years and are a better live band as well IMO.
The progression from hot fuss to Sams town is impressive too.
Flowers is a better frontman than casablancas as well. To me the strokes have one really good record and a couple so so ones with a handful of good songs.

Well said. Agree with every word including solo comparison. Killers are good and new strokes music is
is still pretty great but older strokes is some epic music.

Mr. Brightside may be the 5th or 6th Best song from the Hot Fuss era for the Killers.
All The Things
Indie Rock and Roll
On Top
Under the Gun
Smile Like You Mean It
I do like the Strokes, but Killers were so much better in concert. I've seen the Killers 3 times and the Strokes twice

After is this it I didn't care for the strokes songwriting really. They seemed to write a lot of unmemorable songs with awesome music if that makes any sense.
I think Brandon flowers has one of the best voices in modern rock music.. And he writes some damn catchy songs.
"when you were young" is a really really good song.
