Hadn’t really dived into their music until recently. Room on Fire and Is This It are great albums

It doesn’t get the same amount of love, but First Impressions of Earth is my second favorite behind Is This It.

There music really fell if after the first two albums. Third was not bad but beyond that they have very little musical direction.

Do hose first two were very very good though, some of my favorites ever.

They really are. I enjoy all of their albums, even though some fell way off.

I mean, they were one of the biggest bands of the critically acclaimed garage rock scene of the 2000’s. While I feel a lot of folks missed out on those bands, critics were ALL IN loving that genre, and The Strokes in particular.

I like 2000’s garage rock, btw. Bands like Jet and The White Stripes were hugely influential on my early songwriting.

OP might have been too busy saying "Music these days sucks! Play some Zeppelin, baw."

Their sound is odd to me. Like the vocals were processed somehow.

That’s because Julian can’t sing, but his attempt fits perfectly with the music.

A lot of those garage rock bands and later indie bands do that. It gives it a “retro” “vintage” sound while masking a weak vocalist. You can hear a lot of similar effects used by bands like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, and Franz Ferdinand.

I think it's a mixed bag being more miss than hit. I missed them this year but had several different people tell me it wasn't great.

Their recorded music however... Amazing.

Saw them at the old Howlin' Wolf on the back of Is This It? Oct. 2001

They were really good... Haven't seen them since..
