Guadalcanal Diary - Litany
Hoodoo Gurus - What's My Scene

It's really sad how few people know these two bands. They only come up on XM a few times per year when I am driving. I have artist seek set for both.

After rescheduling twice due to Covid, they finally just cancelled their show in Chicago later this year... I was super bummed...

"Watusi Rodeo" is one of the era's masterpieces, but it's not PP so I didn't post it

Michel Pagliano - "Lovin' You Ain't Easy"

An obscure but classic track that predates The Raspberries

The Bobby Fuller 4 - "Let Her Dance"

For me, BF's finest hour -- the spacey production was made possible by his record label having access to the first 8 track recording equipment in L.A.

Ironically enough, Bobby himself was against this arrangement/production (it was the idea of his bassist brother Randy), preferring the original Tex Mex version

R.I.P.

I wish this site would turn threads into play lists.

Great song. I would have bet my life it was released 10+ years later than 1971.

Cool fact...Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne wrote "That Thing You Do" for the movie of the same name. Schlesinger passed away in 2020.

While I love the band overall, my like ratio from Love to Blake is like 5 to 1. Not sure any Blake song is in my top 5.

I prefer Bram's "I'm the One That's Leaving"

Also, The Plimsouls "A Million Miles Away"

By saying “I raise you”, I didn’t mean that the song I posted was better. It’s just another in a significant list of great power pop songs by Teenage Fanclub.
