in current news:

phish jumps back into the first tier since moe. is too lolworthy

keller williams climbs the ranks to tier four.

string cheese releases their new album "song in my head" and cements themself as a tier one jam band

Robert Randolph climbs to tier 3 and is on the up and up

Anders Osbourn and Steve Kimock are also added to tier 3. Anders may be tier 2 before its all said and done.

Moon taxi and Particle are on the verge of becoming "jam bands" and entering the tier system

Particle has been around for a while. At least since the early '00s.

Does Moon Taxi jam? I keep hearing about them but have never seen them or heard anything outside of a RATM cover set.

Yea they stretch their songs out pretty long for their live shows. I doubt much improv is involved night to night though.

I like them a lot. They kind of have a unique thing happening with them.

I know, but are they even worthy of tier five?

yea, but it's debatable. I saw them once and they definitely jammed out each song.

I posted in another thread, but are mine. Disclaimer, I feel I have a lot of jamband cred. Went to HORDE 2 years in a row, saw the Grateful Dead in the late 80's and early 90's, too many Phish and WSP shows, sold drugs on lot, etc.

Tier 1 - Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic

Tier - The rest because they all suck.

I've never considered Allman Brothers a jamband. Too much commercial success, but if that russles you, put them in Tier 1.

Yeah, the discussion on that board is insufferable. Anything and everything is shitty.

It is a good source for cooking tips and such, though. There are some really knowledgeable folks on there.
