Yep, Nas made fun of Jay's mustache and Jay pointed out that Nas doesn't even own his own music. And then the biz angle played out over the last decade and Jay was signing Nas to a deal. Ether is a joke, and time has proven that. All that celebrating when it came out was justified b/c no one really expected Nas to go at Jay like that and Jay kinda deserved it for manufacturing the beef, but everything Jay pointed out wasn't just true, it ended up defining Nas.

Ok so I got the app a week ago and downloaded album on the 4th. Does it not actually dl to your phone? Do you have to always go through app? If so how do you play the whole album instead of a song at a time?

If you're having that much trouble just download the leak from the internet.

Well I figure it is easy. This is my first smartphone so I figure I am doing something wrong. When I go to the app it says the album is downloaded just wondering if you have to listen song by song from the app or if there is a better way.

This is all sort of like an A&M fan saying well we went 11-2 and you went 10-3 plus we handed you all those turnovers when we played. You didn't win that game we lost it.

oh and this

is laughable.

Nas is defined by IllMatic, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, God's Son, ect.

And if he is in any way defined by that beef (just for argument's sake), it's by the fact that the vast majority of the public believes he won it.

I didn't think his remark deserved a response, especially after saying

Beefs are won in the moment, not 10 years after you were exposed and lyrically assaulted on arguably the greatest diss record of all-time.

Pitchfork gave MCHG a 5.8 LINK

I didn't think this album was as good as other ppl on here, but I think a 5.8 is laughable. Also, looking at Ian Cohen's other album reviews I think this guy is a joke. Why do hipsters even have to stick their noses into rap?

Ok I get with something like music there will be thousands of different opinions. But I am a little shocked some people don't think the album is good. I don't like Jay-Z that much...but I'm lovin' this CD.

It's so good. Haven't listened to a rap album the whole way through and really enjoyed it in a while. I'm a fan of it.

Illmatic is untouchable but for a lot of people Nas is defined by his inability to select beats and a lot of goofy "thug poet" BS that looks corny and dated. At the time Jay went at Nas it was b/c he thought he thought Nas was his only rival for King of NY. If Nas won, tell me then why Jay spent the years following Takeover at the top of the game and Nas is languishing in semi-obscurity?

It's called context, dummy. Yeah, at the time it might've been funny to giggle like a little girl at Nas saying "Cockafella" but 10 years on Jay is worth half a billion and Nas has to put in a phone call to the Roc to get promotion for his singles. Nas cracked a bunch of JOKES on his diss, Jay spoke TRUTH and w/ the benefit of hindsight Jay looks prescient.

Ian Cohen, and Pitchfork in general, is terrible for rap music. They have such an uneven standard for critiquing it: 2 Chainz and Rick Ross get lauded for idiotic lyrics but if Jay Z repeats himself a few times over the course of an album his record is trash.

Cohen, in particular, is far too concerned w/ where an album fits in the larger context of "music." It leads him, and Pitchfork, to ridiculous ratings like giving Yeezus a 9.5 (an album that no one I know listens to, likes, or will care a/b this time next year) simply for the fact that it pushes boundaries. Well so what? It's unlistenable. Oh, and the lyrics are some of the worst on an album this year but Kanye gets a pass on that for some reason (or, at worst, a .5 deduction).

Yeezus was better than this album imho but the first half of mchg was really good while the second half kinda fell off. The main thingi hate about this album is how laid back and lazy jayz is with his lyrics. You can tell he freestyled most of them and came up with the rest in a few minutes.
