The Silver Sky SE is $949, less than a Fender Player II Modified (MIM) at just over $1k

The full Silver Sky is $2749 (that's the most expensive one on Sweetwater), the Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage '50s is $2999 (again, the most expensive Strat on Sweetwater)

I didn't start that stereotype, but it exists. Of course, the same stereotype is said about Fender Custom Shop guitars

but I conveniently left that out

People are going to buy the guitars that they want. I don't see this being a PR issue at all. Anyone mad at Fender was never buying a new Fender anyway.

I personally would never buy a knockoff. There are too many beautiful guitars. If want a Strat or a Tele, I'm buying a Fender.

If I want a Les Paul, SG, etc., I'm buying a Gibson.

If I don't like those two brands, I'm buying a unique shape made by someone else.

Yes but the best kept secret is that used ones can usually be picked up for $1500, which is an astounding value for the quality of instrument. I would guess that used price won’t stay low long if PRS loses out.

I didn't realize it, but Reverb is owned by the same company that owns Fender.

Everyone, make sure you distribute your outrage equally.

I shut down Reverb not long ago.
They treat the sellers that pay them like shite..

Yes the majority stake holder in FMIC owns reverb. I have bought some good guitars on there, but you really have to hunt to find deals or fair prices. Most of it is people asking new prices for used gear.

Got 2 minutes in and Beato has already made 2 mistakes...shocking.

The graphic said €250,000 and he said "250,000 pounds". OK, not the worst mistake.

Then he goes into Charvel having strat-shaped guitars. Well, since FMIC has owned Charvel since 2002 I'm guessing Fender won't sue itself. How does Beato not KNOW that?

In addition, I don't think Fender has gone after individuals for using Strat shaped guitars, nor will they.

Never got the Cult of Beato.

Yeah he’s a great interviewer, but he’s still a clickbait king like the rest of them. Chasing them likes.

That was really weird. He should have done more homework or at least consulted someone in that arena.

I don't think one has to be in a cult to enjoy good music interviews. He is often hesitant to comment on things like this as he mentioned.

Yea, his viewers are all musicians and music fans. This is divisive issue. He should have avoided it.

Meh, I see no one on Fender's side of this.

I'm on Fender's side, and so are other people in this thread.

Many other people are as well.

Maybe you should get out more.

I thought fake guitars were trashy before this issue came about. I still don't really understand why someone would want a fake Telecaster or Stratocaster.

If you don't like Fender, there are plenty of unique guitar shapes out there that are original to that brand. Buy a Les Paul or an SG, or some other shape.

And I don't think Fender has much of a legal chance in this, but from a PR standpoint I don't have a problem with them trying.

Fender got greedy and just lit their brand on fire. I will likely never buy another fender brand product again and I have been a big time supporter of them for many years. I played exclusively fender amps for my first 15 years as a guitarist, own an American telecaster and gig with it regularly. I have been considering getting a jaguar or jazzmaster for years. I use presonus products for my daw.

Fender already had the premier entry level instruments on the market. They were beating most of their competitors on price with several tiers of options. They had consistent quality control, but lacked customization at lower tiers. Their competitors have been innovating around Fender bodies since Eddie Van Halen built the first super strat. Gibson lost an almost identical lawsuit over the LP body shape in the 70’s. Competitors using standard body shapes while using their own headstocks and components has been standard practice for 50 years now.

Fender can absolutely get f$&ked. This is 100% greed. It’s chasing a penny and torching pounds on fire in the process. They deserve bankruptcy and to get bought out by PRS for this chicken shitte patent trolls lawfare. They won’t see another dime from me.

If you like their product, why would something like this dictate your buying preferences?

Companies sue other companies all the time, for myriad reasons, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement.
