Haven't listend to country since about 96. I wouldn't mind giving some a listen. Who's the best out there these days?

His songs are hit and miss. Takes a certain style to like him.

American Aquarium, Jamey Johnson, Turnpike Troubadours, Aaron Watson, and Casey Donahew Band are all worth giving a listen.
Also, don't blow off guys like Eric Church or Chris Young because of their radio singles. There is still plenty of good country being made, it just doesn't get air time.

For hank 3 listen to broke, lovesick, and drifting, and straight to hell to start with. But anything new is pretty awful, except Johnson.
