Listen to the entire album “John prine” front to back. One of the CDs my father had when I was a kid. Not a bad track on that album IMO

Prine’s songs are among the most admired in music history. Incredibly gifted songwriter.

Jason Molina and Jeff magnum are great writers but you’re wrong about John Prine. Sorry.

My songs not mentioned yet: You Got Gold and the whole album it’s on - The Missing Years

Nobody, and I mean nobody, has ever captured the reality of the underbelly of American society like John Prine did. Beautiful songs telling horrible stories. He was at his best when telling the story of somebody on hard times.

Tom Waits has. Both of them are in a class of their own.

read an article about him back in the late 80s, think it was in Rolling Stone

he and the author of the piece were standing outside a venue where he'd just played, and was loading up to play his next gig in Louisville

out of the blue he hollered out to some woman passing by, "Hey! How'd you like to come to Kentucky with me, you owl-faced bitch?"

I've used a variation of that line many times since then (with similar results)

Yeah, but then you'd have to listen to him sing.

I love his voice, but I can understand why some don't.

I think so.

Edit, that doesn't read well. I like the movie a lot.
