For anyone that missed it live Sturgill heard there was a county music show going on in Nashville tonight so he decided to go down and play some good country music and broadcast it live on his facebook. He had guitar case open for tips (made $13 lol), oh yea his Grammy was sitting in it, first time it's been out of the box. He had plenty of hot political takes (not a trump fan), answered questions from watchers, people just walked by not knowing who he was for the first 30 mins. Then word started to get out and people would walk up and they would just talk and take a pic. Viewership made to about 4000 before his battery died, the irony that he's out on the sidewalk with everyday folks while behind the opening of the "biggest night in country music" is going on was pretty rich. The replay is on his page I believe.

The Grammy was a nice touch and a nice middle finger to the industry hacks ruining the genre

Did he basically give his phone to a stranger to do the live feed?

Conservatives are pissed at him lol. You can lean more right than left and still think trump sucks (that’s how I am). I don’t think Sturgill is a full-on liberal. He’s rational. Dude is the man.

The dude said fascism is alive and well, said gays are tired of getting dragged behind pickup trucks, doesn’t know what a machine gun is, etc.

He’s another pseudo intellectual artist and I’m glad I can more thoroughly ignore his trite shite now.

Yet again your "playlist" will be fairly barren. If you rid yourself of all libs you will be left with Ted Nugent, and Hank Williams Jr. and you can only listen to their new stuff. Because when they were in their primes their hearts were not pure.

Had one of his guys there filming everything. He played and answered questions until his phone died and then he just hung out in front of Bridgestone talking to everyone afterwards. Pretty awesome dude.

I'm not boycotting his music. Most musicians I like are liberal. I'm going to see Jason Isbell next year, who is quickly getting more and more out there with ridiculous shite.

Thankfully, I'm not a big Sturgill fan, although I respect his musicianship. But I will ignore his rantings and ravings and stunts about the CMAs, as I find it pretty hilarious that a guy mad about mass-produced, packaged and shitty products coming out of Nashville wants to regurgitate his mass-produced, packaged and shitty arguments with us.

In Nashville? Because that's what was said

It happens frequently, I'm sure.

You do know the context of this right?

Its a jab at the country music association. The CMAs came out a month ago forbidding any journalists to ask stars about the Vegas tragedy, Trump, etc. Thats why he had that sign saying that he would answer any question.

I don’t give a frick if Sturgill is right, left, communist, etc. his music is some of the best out there. My favorite artist in the business by far.

If you’re basing your listening habits by whether or not the artists are conservative, you’re gonna have a pretty barren playlist. Fwiw, I don’t think he’s as liberal as you think.

Part of me thinks this is cool. The other part of me thinks he’s being a petty bitch.

Just do your thing sturgill, you don’t need those motherfrickers.

The context of his rant about abuse of gays, violence against blacks, gun control and fascism should be held against the CMAs?

Give me a fricking break.

“Nobody needs a machine gun, coming from a guy who owns a few guns,” Simpson started. “What else? Gay people should have the right to be happy and live their life any way they want to and get married if they want to without fear of getting dragged down the road behind a pickup truck. Black people are probably tired of getting shot in the streets and being enslaved by the industrial prison complex. And hegemony and fascism is alive and well in Nashville, Tennessee. Thank you very much.”

The whole quote. He’s right, nobody needs a machine gun, nor are they legal without jumping through a shitload of hoops so he’s partially wrong on that one, nobody’s walking around with machine guns. I don’t think he honestly believes that gays are being drug through the streets. But I agree with him, I don’t gaf if somebody is gay. I do not agree with his sentiments on the race thing.
