That was awesome. I'm going to the Atlanta show Saturday.
I do wish he'd play acoustic on his old stuff. Turtles, All Around You, Long White Line, etc. just don't sound right on electric.

What did mean?
Tyler Childers opened the concert. Apparently some people are leaving after he plays because Sturgill is playing more of a rock than a country concert.
He’s basically saying “I see all the relaxed country folk have found the door”

I wonder how TC feels about that comment.

Ah. Funny, that may be what I do when I go in Austin. OTOH, that song sounds good.

They're really good friends. I don't think it was an insult or anything. I think Sturgill was just saying all the people who can't handle rock music have left. Sturgill actually produced Tyler's last 2 albums.

Are they known to have Yeti coolers?

Music sounds good but I can't understand much he is singing.

I'm just about over Sturgill and his self aggrandizing arse.

Hes gotten pretty insufferable. Hes rapidly approaching Eddy vedder territory

they should rotate and he goes first

He is a fantastic guitarist. People want to pigeonhole him into country, but his talents and interests won't allow it.

I don't know much about Simpson and I'm only vaguely familiar with his music, but he must be one hell of a guitar player to compensate for the look he's sporting on stage in the video linked above. Here Simpson looks like a guy who works at the local Jiffy Lube raided the closet of a 1970s pro-wrestling manager, sans shirt and wearing his aunt's favorite necklace, for whatever reason. I know appearances only mean so much when it comes to rock music, but this fellow really doesn't look the part at all.

Sturgill resented the redneck fanbase he gained with his early work

When is their Sugarland show?

Which is a shame. That earlier work is classic stuff.
Sturgill really is becoming insufferable. He needs to remember when he was opening for Isbell and no one knew who he was.

I believe you have absolutely nailed it. The shirt looks like a kimono. He seems stoned. This is just his version of Ziggy Stardust before he flames out. Fame is too much to handle for the poor, woe is me hillbilly from Pan Bowl, KY.

Gonna try and go. Sadly I have not listened to anything by Childers. Sad OR I will have an hour or two of awesome stuff I have never heard.
Saw Sturgill last time he went through Sugarland
