I absolutely adore how you not only didn't include links, but didn't even post the artists' names, as if we are supposed to know every single song

The Pogues - And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda written by Eric Bogle

And those that were left, well we tried to survive
In that mad world of blood, death and fire
And for ten weary weeks, I kept myself alive
Though around me the corpses piled higher
Then a big Turkish shell knocked me arse over head
And when I woke up in me hospital bed
And saw what it had done, well I wished I was dead
Never knew there was worse things than dyin'

I just wrote this one, kind of in that same vein.

Charlie

Well Charlie’s in the paddies,
And Charlie’s in the trees,
There’s a landmine in the road,
The Bushes speak Vietnamese,

Well Charlie’s in the tunnels,
And Charlie’s in the grass,
And if you try to sleep,
Then Charlie’s gonna get your arse,

Oh Charlie, come and get it Charlie,
I can smell the Agent Orange in the air,
Oh Charlie, can you taste the Napalm,
When I close my eyes it’s Charlie waiting there,

We can make it to the barracks,
If we make it through the night,
And we make it to the chopper,
But there’s sure to be a fight,

And if you make it home,
There’ll be no ticker tape parade,
Cause all that you can trust in,
Is your gun and your grenade,

Oh Charlie, come and get it Charlie,
I can smell the Agent Orange in the air,
Oh Charlie, can you taste the Napalm,
When I close my eyes it’s Charlie waiting there,

I’m taking point on this one,
So private get my six,
Best keep your eyes wide open,
And get wise to Charlie’s tricks,

I can hear the chopper coming,
So it’s time to catch a ride,
Swear that if I fall in battle,
Tell my mama that I tried,

(With Grenades exploding,
Try to make it to the wire
Chopper blades thumping,
As they’re taking heavy fire,

The sounds of screaming,
As a bullet tears through,
Then the darkness of dreaming,
Has Charlie come for you?)

Oh Charlie, come and get it Charlie,
I can smell the Agent Orange in the air,
Oh Charlie, can you taste the Napalm,
When I close my eyes it’s Charlie waiting there,

He wakes up in an alley,
With a bottle for his bed,
And takes another swig,
To try to get it out his head,

Tattered coat traded for camo,
And his hair has turned to grey,
Though the war is long since over,
Over there,
But Charlie never goes away,
No Charlie never goes away.

Machine Gun - Jimi Hendrix

Hero of War - Rise Against

He said "Son, have you seen the world?
Well, what would you say if I said that you could?
"Just carry this gun, you'll even get paid"
I said "That sounds pretty good"
Black leather boots
Spit-shined so bright
They cut off my hair but it looked alright
We marched and we sang
We all became friends
As we learned how to fight

A hero of war
Yeah, that's what I'll be
And when I come home
They'll be damn proud of me
I'll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
'Cause it's a flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

I kicked in the door
I yelled my commands
The children, they cried
But I got my man
We took him away
A bag over his face
From his family and his friends
They took off his clothes
They pissed in his hands
I told them to stop
But then I joined in
We beat him with guns
And batons not just once
But again and again

A hero of war
Yeah that's what I'll be
And when I come home
They'll be damn proud of me
I'll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
'Cause it's a flag that I love
And a flag that I trust

She walked through bullets and haze
I asked her to stop
I begged her to stay
But she pressed on
So I lifted my gun
And I fired away
And the shells jumped through the smoke
And into the sand
That the blood now had soaked
She collapsed with a flag in her hand
A flag white as snow

A hero of war
Is that what they see
Just medals and scars
So damn proud of me
And I brought home that flag
Now it gathers dust
But it's a flag that I love
It's the only flag I trust

He said, "Son, have you seen the world?
Well what would you say, if I said that you could?"
